IPPNY Supports Governor Cuomo's Nomination of Audrey Zibelman to the PSC
Albany, N.Y., 6/18/13 - Independent Power Producers of New York, Inc. (IPPNY) commends Governor Andrew M. Cuomo for his nomination of Audrey Zibelman to the New York Public Service Commission (PSC) and for his recognition of the expertise she will bring to New York. IPPNY also congratulates Ms. Zibelman, whose many years of experience in all areas of the electric industry, especially regarding competitive markets, will make her a notable addition to the PSC.
IPPNY President & CEO Gavin J. Donohue said he is looking forward to working with Ms. Zibelman on issues of importance to IPPNY Members, who generate over 75 percent of the state's electricity. "Ms. Zibelman's background in developing wholesale markets at PJM will help to reinforce the benefits of New York's competitive market structure in the areas of private investment, electric system reliability, and reduced emissions," said Donohue.
Ms. Zibelman founded Viridity Energy, Inc. after more than 25 years of electric utility industry leadership experience in both the public and private sectors. She is a recognized national and international expert in energy policy, markets and Smart Grid innovation. Prior to forming Viridity, Ms. Zibelman was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of PJM, the Regional Transmission Organization that operates the world's largest wholesale power market and serves 14 states throughout the eastern United States.
